The Project

A Black Box? So what?

Probably the greatest challenge a designer faces is to develop new ideas every day. But sometimes the magic happens: Inspiration and production meet and a figment of imagination is turned into something that touches our heart and soul. Into something that brings joy into our minds and impresses us by its ingenuity.

The idea behind the Black Box Project® is quite simple: What will happen if you give designers a tool with which he or she can do whatever they like? The Black Box is nothing but a stage on which designers perform their art, without any limitations apart from using the unique characteristics of Invercote and the size of the box.

But some manage to even break the size limitations, creating ideas that reach well outside the confinements of the Black Box.

The first two of these design projects were presented to the public at the Cercle Suedois/Swedish Club in conjunction with the famous Les Places d'Or design and luxury packaging exhibition in Paris on Nov. 23, 2010. This was followed by events in London, Amsterdam and New York. On Nov. 15, 2011, the latest Black Box will be presented in Hamburg, Germany. The newcomer in Hamburg is the designer and illustrator Sebastian Onufszak, who is based in Augsburg, Germany, but working with clients all over Europe. His contribution to the exhibition will be unveiled at an event at the Prototyp Museum in Hamburg. In 2012 further events are planned for Europe and Asia.

See for yourself how the unimaginable is brought into the real world. Invercote your ideas!
